Chapati is an unleavened flatbread that is made from whole wheat flour and cooked on a flat skillet. Chapatis are mostly served with Indian curry dishes and Indian main meals.

Ingredients for chapati
- 140 g whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 140 g all-purpose flour
- 180 ml hot water
- ghee or butter for serving
How to make chapati
- place the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour and salt into a big mixing bowl
- mix well
- stir in the olive oil and sufficient water just enough to make a soft dough
- the amount of water needed is dependant on the fineness of the flour you use
- make sure the dough is elastic and not sticky when making chapati
- knead the dough on a lightly floured and flat surface until the dough becomes smooth
- knead the dough a second time just before you separate them
- separate the dough into ten equal portions
- roll each portion of the dough into the shape of a ball
- allow the dough to rest for five minutes
- heat a frying pan using medium temperature until the frying pan becomes hot
- lightly grease the frying pan as per the chapati recipe
- use a rolling pin to roll out the balls until you get a thin layer
- when frying pan begins smoking, put the chapati onto the frying pan
- cook for thirty seconds or until the underside has brown spots
- turn and cook the other side as per the chapati recipe
