Recipe for Murgh Makhani

Ingredients for chicken butter recipe

  • 2 medium-sized cooked tandoori chickens

  • 3 pieces cinnamon each 3 1/1 cm

  • 4 black cardamom pods, partially bruised

  • 4 green cardamom pods

  • 2 cloves

  • 4 bay leaves

  • 1 1/4 kg chopped tomatoes

  • 3 small-sized chopped onions

  • 2 1/2 cm chopped ginger

  • 10 cloves chopped garlic

  • 6 green chopped chilies

  • 450 g butter

  • 1 1/4 teaspoon chili powder

  • 2 teaspoons sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup cream

  • 1 large green capsicum, very finely chopped

  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala

How to make Butter Chicken

  • chicken is cut into many pieces

  • leave the bones of the chicken in

  • put whole spices, tomatoes, onions, ginger, garlic and chilies into a cooking pan

  • simmer and stir the above mixture frequently

  • ensure that the tomatoes are soft and pulpy

  • remove the whole spices and then blend to obtain a puree

  • push the puree into a sieve and return the sauce to the cooking pan

  • remember to put in butter, chili powder, sugar and salt

  • simmer the mixture until the puree become thick

  • add half the cream and the pieces of chicken into the cooking pan

  • simmer for about four minutes

  • add all except the one tablespoon of the cream and half the garam masala

  • stir the mixture thoroughly

  • add capsicum

  • serve the Indian butter chicken by sprinkling the remaining cream and garam masala

  • you can also serve this Indian butter chicken recipe with naan
