Recipe for Chat Masala

 

Chat Masala recipe is an essential spice combination recipe since chat masalah is often garnished over many Indian dishes for additional flavor. Chat masala is a famous Indian spice mix used to flavor many Indian cuisine and the Indian masala chat recipes are frequently passed down from generations to generations.

Ingredients for chat masala (sometimes spelled as chaat masala)

  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns

  • 3 long pepper

  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds

  • 5 cloves

  • 1/2 tablespoon dried mint leaves

  • 1/4 teaspoon tartaric acid

  • 2 teaspoons refined salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)

  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida powder

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons dried mango powder

  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 tablespoon rock salt

How to make Chat Masala

  • put the asafoetida powder, black peppercorns, carom seeds, cloves, cumin seeds, dried mint leaves and long pepper in a cooking pan

  • heat gently

  • shake the pan evenly

  • stop heating when the spices begin to produce a fragrant smell

  • remove from heat

  • add rock salt

  • grind mixture while mixture is still warm

  • put in the other chaat masala ingredients

  • cool the Indian masala chat and keep in an airtight container

  • the salty and sour flavored chat masala is ready for use
