Garam Masala recipe is one of the most well-known Indian recipes for spice mixtures. Garam masala is actually a combination of blended ground spices to be used alone or used with other Indian seasonings whereby the Indian garam masala is one of the most famous masala in Asia.

Ingredients for garam masala recipe

  • 1/2 cup cumin seeds

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons coriander seeds

  • 3 cinnamon sticks measuring 6 cm in length

  • 8 bruised green cardamom pods

  • 6 bruised black cardamom pods

  • 8 cloves

  • 1 broken nutmeg

  • 4 blades of mace

  • 1 1/4 tablespoon black peppercorns

  • 6 whole star anise

  • 4 bay leaves

How to make Garam Masala

  • to prepare garam masala, you are advised to use a non-stick pan

  • put all the spices in a dry non-stick pan

  • heat over very low temperature

  • shake the pan frequently

  • allow to cool once a fragrant smell is produced

  • use an electric blender to grind the above mixture until a fine mixture is obtained

  • keep in an airtight container after cooking the garam masala recipe

  • you now have your own Indian garam masala
