Goan Prawn Pickle recipe or mole de camarao recipe is a popular Indian prawns pickle recipe. This shrimp pickle is a great accompaniment to seafood cuisine and Goan prawn pickle or Goan shrimp pickle is a famous Goan cuisine.

Ingredients for Goan shrimp pickle recipe

  • 550 g medium-sized prawns

  • 150 ml oil

  • 400 ml vinegar

  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1/2 teaspoon black peppercorns

  • 1/2 tablespoon turmeric powder

  • 1 large-sized chopped onion

  • 5 cloves chopped small-sized garlic

  • 2 cm chopped ginger

  • 3 green cardamom pods

  • 12 dried chilies

  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How to make Goan Prawn Pickle

  • the prawns are peeled and patted dry

  • saute prawns in hot oil for six minutes

  • drain prawns and set aside

  • discard the husks of the cardamom pods

  • fry the chilies until crisp

  • blend the ingredients

  • add sufficient vinegar to make a paste

  • dilute to a thin sauce with additional vinegar

  • simmer using low temperature for forty minutes

  • add salt to the Goan prawn recipe

  • let it cool

  • put prawns in a container

  • pour in enough sauce to cover the prawns

  • there must be a layer of oil over the top of the prawns

  • store the Goan Prawn or Goan shrimp for four days

  • you are now ready to eat your Goan prawn pickle
