Gulab Jamun is a famous Indian dessert called fried milk balls in syrup. Ingredients for gulab jamuns recipe

  • 900 kg khoa

  • 180 g chenna

  • 4 teaspoons plain flour

  • oil for deep frying

  • pinch of bicarbonate of soda

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons skinned and chopped pistachio nuts

Syrup for gulab jamun

  • 2.3 kg sugar

  • 7 cups water

How to make Gulab Jamun

  • before frying the milk balls, we have to make the syrup first

  • boil the sugar and water together for twelve minutes

  • stir constantly until the mixture is slightly thickened

  • keep aside

  • crumble the khoa

  • add the khoa to the bicarbonate of soda, chenna, plain flour and pistachios

  • you will get a soft dough

  • make one small ball to test out the dough

  • fry the sample ball to see it the ball breaks

  • if the ball breaks, the dough is too moist

  • add a little bit more plain flour

  • when you get the correct consistency, make more balls with a 5 cm diameter

  • deep fry the balls until they become golden brown

  • drain the fried balls as per gulab jamun recipe

  • put the fried balls into the warm syrup
