This Korean fried rice recipe showcases rice that is stir-fried with main ingredients such as shredded beef and spicy kimchi.

Ingredients for fried kimchi rice with beef recipe

  • 620 g overnight cooked rice kept in fridge

  • 240 g firmly packed, sliced kimchi

  • 220 g thin strips of ground beef or beef sirloin

  • 1/2 large-sized diced bell pepper

  • 4 thinly sliced scallions

  • 3/4 sliced green chili

  • 1 cloves peeled and crushed garlic

  • 1 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar

  • 1 diced medium-sized onion

  • 1 tablespoons soy sauce

  • salt to taste

  • black sesame seeds for garnishing

How to make Kimchi Bokkeumbap

  • place the thin strips of beef into a bowl

  • add garlic and soy sauce

  • mix well and leave to marinate for ten minutes

  • heat wok using high temperature

  • add 1/2 tablespoon of vegetable oil

  • put in the thin strips of beef

  • stir-fry the beef with kimchi, onions and sugar for one minute or until the onions become soft

  • remove the mixture from wok and set aside

  • reduce the heat to medium

  • add 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • when oil is very hot, put in the rice
