Recipe to make miso soup

 

Miso Soup recipe or miso-shiru recipe is the most famous Japanese soup recipe. Miso soup is a traditional Japanese soup made up of a stock called dashi which is then mixed with miso paste. Different regions and places in Japan produces different types of miso. The Kansai region in Japan which include Kyoto, Nara, Osaka and the western part of Japan produces miso that is white and which is quite sweet while miso from the Kanto region in Japan which include eastern Japan and Tokyo is red and salty. Black and salty miso is found in Nagoya.

Ingredients for miso soup

  • 420 ml dashi (stock to cook soup)

  • 2 1/4 tablespoons miso

Ingredients that you can add to miso soup recipe to cook miso soup

  • green cabbage

  • mushrooms

  • onion

  • potato

  • tofu

  • white cabbage

How to make Miso Soup

  • heat the dashi in a saucepan

  • choose the ingredients that you want to put into the miso soup

  • cut the selected ingredients into bite-size pieces as per the miso-shiru recipe

  • put in the ingredients that you have selected into the dashi

  • cook under medium temperature

  • put miso paste in a ladle as per the miso soup recipe

  • drop the ladle into the stock

  • slowly dilute the miso by mixing the stock and the miso in the ladle using a small spoon

  • mix with the dashi as per the miso-shiru recipe

  • this miso soup recipe can make 4 bowls

  • serve miso soup while the miso soup is hot
