Recipe to cook steamed sushi

 

Steamed Sushi recipe or Mushi-Zushi recipe is one of the most famous sushi recipes that you can cook in the comfort of your own kitchen. Steamed sushi recipes are hot sushi recipes that make full use of the steam to mix the different flavors together and soak into the rice. The vinegar from the rice of the steamed sushi will be able to soak into the other ingredients as well and this unique Japanese cooking method makes sushi a true ambassador of Japanese culture.

Ingredients for steamed sushi recipe

  • 280 g vinegared rice

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons fresh peas

  • 1 1/2 small-sized carrot

  • 1 boned chicken leg

  • 2 1/2 eggs

  • a pinch of white sesame seeds

Ingredients for teriyaki sauce to make steamed sushi

  • 3/4 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 3/4 tablespoon sugar

  • 3/4 tablespoon water

  • 4 teaspoons sake

  • 3/4 tablespoon mirin (to sweeten and flavor the teriyaki sauce)

Ingredients for the carrot when cooking steamed sushi

  • 3 tablespoons water

  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon rice vinegar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

How to make Steamed Sushi

  • add all the teriyaki sauce ingredients into a saucepan

  • bring to a boil and then take away from heating

  • set aside and allow to cool

  • make small cuts on the chicken leg

  • put the chicken leg on a plate and pour teriyaki sauce on the chicken leg

  • rub well and set aside to marinate for one hour

  • cut carrot into bite-sized

  • put the ingredients for carrot into a new saucepan

  • pit in carrot

  • cook under medium temperature

  • mix well and cooked until carrot is tender

  • lightly mix the eggs

  • heat a non-stick skillet

  • pour in the egg as per the mushi-zushi recipe

  • turn the skillet to obtain a thick layer of egg

  • set aside when egg is cooked and slice eggs into thin strips when cool

  • cook peas in boiling water until crisp

  • preheat oven to 400°F before cooking the mushi-zushi recipe

  • put in chicken and cook chicken until the color becomes nicely browned

  • remove chicken from oven

  • slice chicken into even pieces

  • set aside left-over teriyaki sauce

  • boil water in a steamer under high temperature

  • carefully toss carrots, peas and rice in a salad bowl when making steamed sushi

  • put rice mixture into two serving bowls as per the steamed sushi recipe

  • put chicken pieces, sesame seeds and strips of eggs on top of rice mixture

  • put serving bowls filled with rice mixture into steamer

  • steam for five minutes as per the steamed sushi recipe

  • pour leftover teriyaki sauce over chicken pieces before serving the steamed sushi

  • this steamed sushi recipe can make two bowls of a special Japanese steamed sushi cuisine
